The word 'Wellness' seems to have a very fuzzy meaning. I'm sure people would define the word in many different ways, and I doubt whether it could possibly have a standard dictionary meaning. So what are some possible understandings of Wellness? For a start, people would associate this with being healthy, being 'well', although even this much more basic word is not possible to define precisely. What is 'being well' for me is probably very different from 'being well' for you, as this will depend on many factors such as general living conditions, age, recent illnesses, attitude, and so on. And how can we expect to be able to change, and hopefully improve, our Wellness? Is it just a matter of eating a healthier diet so that we are able to avoid becoming overweight and have a good energy level? It is tempting to simply resolve to improve the overall wellness of your life, without giving sufficient consideration about how you are actually going to achieve this. You might have general ideas about improving the quality of your diet, and getting more exercise, and taking the time to have relaxation exercises. However you might make all the appropriate resolutions but nevertheless fail to implement most of what you had earlier resolved to do. It is usually helpful to at least outline some of the actual aims you have, and then you are better able to measure how many and how well these aims were achieved. For instance, instead of telling yourself that you must get more exercise over the coming weeks, why not actually commit yourself to getting 80 minutes of exercise this week, 100 minutes the next, and 120 minutes from then on.
